First car, Audi TT or Lexus SC 430?

So I'm getting my first car next month for my 18th. I'm going to be paying for the car and my parents are gonna cover my insurance and services.
I've narrowed my choices down to two options, a 2008 Audi TT Roadster 2.0 Auto or a 2003 Lexus SC 430.

I've test driven both and I like them a lot. I currently share a Prius with my parents and I've grown partial to having things like Navigation and Bluetooth which is why I'm considering the Lexus as it's well appointed and has everything I want and need.
The TT however is more of a sports car with minimal options and gadgets but I love the design and the drive but the Lexus is more secure with the hard top and insurance is lower on the Lexus too.

BTW, as I said, I'm 17, 18 in mid April and I'm a guy. But I don't think the SC 430 is a women's car so please don't say that!

Oh! And I also like being looked at when I'm driving around so I want a car that will attract attention among others and especially other teens at my school!
I've been driving by myself for 2 years and I was on my learners permit before that. I'm a compitent driver so no I don't need a bomb to learn in.

If its true that you have these choices at your age - then I really envy you.

Ignore the jealousy of what others think, if they tell you to find something cheaper. Basically if you can afford it then why not treat yourself. However I would caution you, that at your age with little experience, you will be very tempted to drive fast, and end up just like me. Last year I had a terrible car accident in a high performance Audi S3. I didn't have the right cover of insurance - at the time which was really stupid thing to do, and completley totalled my car on a country road.

I've now lost my driving licence as I was accused by the police for driving too dangerously. I also permanently damaged my right shoulder for life. Also lost my car which the insurance company doesn't want to pay for. So an all round bad situation created in a matter of seconds from a few stupid decisions when negotiating a tight country bend.

Anyway have you checked the fuel economy on both cars? What is thier rate of depreciation after a few years?

In my personal opinion being a bloke and with a bit more years of experience I would go for the Lexus. Although they are both very good cars, the Lexus is more practical i.e. it holds more passengers and like you said comes with more useful gadgets. Also looks really good. Also when you sell it, it will appeal to a larger audience of buyers for its practical benefits. The car is quite popular both with the young but also middle aged business woman/men.
Personally I think you don't want to get a two seater (with mini seats in the back) like the Audi TT - firstly, girls at college will think your trying to hard to impress them. On the other hand however, I have heard that TT's are very popular i.e. 'cute' with the ladies - probably why they're known as a 'girly' car.
Because of this girly image you may only be aiming for this type of buying audience when you sell it which is a limited market.

So go for the Lexus! :)

Which car is faster and has more potential to become faster? 1991 300zx TT or 2001 Audi TT?

I want to buy either a 300zx TT or Audi TT and make it high performance car. I want very quick acceleration, i'd like your thoughts on what car i should buy and what up grades would be great for a faster car, Thank you

1991 300zx is faster and has more potential......The audi is a 1.8 t vw engine with awd and isn't any faster than a turbo jetta---The age of the car might sway you to the newer TT tho

What is draining car(Audi TT) battery?

I have a 2003 Audi TT (45000 miles). For last few days my battery goes out automatically every night and then I have to jump start it. After switching the car off I can hear something running inside the hood.....from a closer look it seems like something related to engine cooling system...may be a water pump?
Please help me if you know something about this....I have heard that this car shares a lot with other Volkswagens.
1) What do you think is the problem?
2) Can i fix it myself?
3) How much will it costs?
4) Alternate solutions?

Battery is only 1 year old and in good condition

It could be the After-Run Coolant Pump! YEP they run after you shut the car off to help cool the turbo! If they relay is sticking that could be your problem. Unless you have a factory scantool or VAG-COM you should take it in for service.

Which is a better sports car to buy: a 4-yr old Porsche Boxter worth £24 thou or new Audi TT worth £28 thou?

My husband is torn between these two options. He likes the Audi bec our current family car is an Audi and the fact that the choice is brand new, and service is not a problem, but still he says"a Porsche is a Porsche".

Frankly, I would go for the Audi TT. From any point of view, this model is simply destroying Mercedes Benz. Indeed, the quote "a Porsche is a Porsche" is old fashioned. Anyway, if your husband insists on these second-hand Boxter, I would recommend you any 911. As the SLK, the Boxer is considered a cheap failure.
