I am getting a new car (BMW 3-Series) new model and wanted to know how good they are on diesel?

I am getting a new car (BMW 3-Series) new model and wanted to know how good they are on diesel?
There are a good few friends are telling me not to go for it because I should set my sights lower (Vauxhall,Ford). My mum included thinks I should go for something with smaller payments. I am male and nearly 25 in December. The last time I got a car was about 4 years ago and It was a very bad buy.

Here in the USA, we are supposed to get the new 3 series diesel. The ratings claim to be 33mpg on the highway in US gallons which translates to a little over 39mpg imperial for the UK. Diesel is priced much higher than gasoline here which has been a barrier, plus we have VERY strict emissions on them. One reason why we do not have a wide choice here. The VW Jetta diesel's fuel economy was pratically killed by the extra added emissions. I have read where the BMW 3 series 6 cylinder diesels were getting close to 48 imperial miles to the gallon over in Europe. If they add more stuff to them in the USA, it will drop more. We have to pay a lot more the diesel option. What is a crying shame is that the USA has not embraced diesel technology like it should. Hybrids have been pushed hard by our Government and environmentalists. With diesel fuel being a lot more than gasoline, that is hurting sales. IF the US version diesel performs poorly over here, it would be advantageous to get the 6 cylinder gasoline because they do get good fuel economy. In Europe diesel is the way to go and there are far many choices. Also the emissions on them are not as strict. I think you will be okay buying a 3 series diesel over there. It will probably take the United States 3 more years to straighten out the diesel prices and get more diesel cars over here. If that will ever happen. 8 years ago, diesel was much cheaper than gas over here. Now the oil companies are making the biggest profit off of it because they can.

They're both easy to use and you can search within a range of years. If you use cars.com you need to click on advanced search to do that. With autotrader just click find your car...

Bmw a good car?? 3 series??

Ok im in the market for a new car and ive looked at every car around i think and i keep coming back to the BMW 3 Series--328i..Also how is the 335i is it better??
I have no idea but i think ive fallen in love lol.
I've heard bad things about BMW and good things, Can anyone give me the pros and cons with owning a BMW

great interio
26 mpg
i would definitaly get the 335i
BMW has been on the top 10 best cars for 16 years
0-to-60 is 5.6 seconds
the only bad things are the rear leg room, the speakers arent the best, and the tires
otherwise great car
