Out of the red - prices roar back on Ferraris & Rollers

Back in November, when the in the seventh heaven was in turmoil, a perceptive bloke bought a Ferrari Enzo for £625,000.

He's unbiased sold it, without having suffused a singular mile, for £725,000.

That's how much the supercar call has recovered in nine midget months.

Luxurious car salesman Tom Hartley of Derbyshire (www.tomhartley.com) says the exchange is now molten.

He's sold three Enzos in the last year and can't get enough of the things.

He puts this sell insanity down to a combine of factors. In Trek and April manufacturers drastically cut forging and an exodus of coin of the realm flowed out of banks into be prepared for-priced supercars.

Bentley GTCs, which dropped to as itty-bitty as £65k, are now chasing £80k.

"This customer base is competition faster than the Reservoir Swap, with more buyers than cars, and canny owners holding on to their motors longer, because they understand they're not depreciating."

He tips the Ferrari 612 at £90k as something that'll extend its value, along with Nissan's wonderful-sharp GT-R which, with an entr plane of £40k, is "rock on the stinking rich". Classics are up, too.

I'd choose the 196 mph Scaglietti. here's what Motor Trend magazine said in a recent road test comparing i to the Aston Martin DB9, the Bentley Continental GT Speed and the Mercedes-Benz Clk 63 AMG:

The Scaglietti is the driver's driver among this litter. This V-12 is the one you'll flog the hardest, and the F1-A autoclutch trans becomes your partner in that crime. The 612's steering is the most communicative, the chassis the most responsive, and the brakes the strongest (although all were superb). This cavallino rampante lets you know everything it and the road are doing, yet never punishes. Its performance, ride, and handling envelopes are large, and, strangely enough, so is its back-seat area, as noted. It'll be interesting to see how this Ferrari's exterior styling plays over time, as it was nobody's fave. As the most expensive, it should deliver more. It does, and for many buyers in this category, even a hundred-grand premium is no biggie to get what they want, although one editor quipped that the Scaglietti is "a $200,000 car and an $80,000 donation to the Ferrari F1 team."

I like the way the 612's fender coves evoke 1950s design, I'd want mine in ice blue.

What is the most beautiful Italian sports car ever?

So many choices....Ferrari....250 GT, 612 Scaglietti, 360 Modena, 430, even the Enzo. Lamborghini...Countach, Diablo, and now their Gallardo. Alfa Romeo...with all their convertibles. Maserati...Gransport and of course Quarttraporte.

What do you think is the most beautiful Italian car ever made?
