What kind of car stereo should I buy for a 2001 Ford F-150 extended cab?

I want the "perfect" stereo. Double din would be nice and maybe something with a small LCD screen mounted in the faceplate for watching DVDs? Good sound, RCA outputs, cool looking and not OMG expensive. Is it possible?

Seeing as your factory radio is only din and a half, if you are looking to install double din, the installation costs alone will be OMG expensive (due to the customization involved).

To get some realistic pricing and choices, check the link below and browse around - just stay away from a brand called 'Dual' - cheap product that only lasts a couple of months before needing service.

Is a 1996 Ford f-150 a good first car?

I live in the mtns, so I need a 4x4

I have a 1995 F-150. I love the truck, but there are a few things you should know about them. 1) The gas mileage sucks. Mine has the 5.8 and i get about 10-12 in town and about 15-16 on the freeway. 2) For the big V8, you will be a little disappointed in the power output: 5.0 is 205 and the 5.8 is 210. The 5.8 is much stronger, but won't even come close to touching a vortec chevy5.7, or magnum dodge 5.9. 3) They are not really pretty. They are big and square. They can be blown all over the road because they are so square.

That being said, if you are willing to take the trade offs I would highly recommend this truck. Mine has over 170,000 miles on it, and still runs strong. Has a couple of problems, however I haul a small slide in camper on it and pull a 14' boat with no problems.
