If your wires don't need to be spliced to make the connection, connect the wiring harness from your new cd player to your car and any other connections that need to be made and using your mounting kit, slide the new cd player into the slot and screw it in. 1994 Mazda B2300 Manual Transmission Makes Clanking Noise When Letting Off The Gas?

I have a 1994 Mazda B2300 with a manual transmission. The transmission performs great...its a little jerky, but I believe that is just the way the truck drives. It never slips or won't go into gear...basically the transmission works great. My problem is when going down the road when I let off the gas the car the transmission makes a clanking sound when the gear grabs. If i ease off the gas it lessens/prevents the noise all together or if I press the clutch in then let it out in the same gear it doesn't make that clanking sound either. I'm looking to sell the truck and would like to know what to tell people is wrong or if its an easy fix I would like to fix it myself. Any advice?


you should start by changing the transmission fluid. if it has never been done, it is LONG overdue. over time, the tolerances in the transmission increase, so the "meshing" of the gears becomes a bit sloppy. fresh trans fluid will fill some of the wear spots, and absorb some of the play. before you change it, check the fluid level. if it is lower than required, that could also be the problem. make sure you use the proper fluid, or it will eat your synchros.

Starting problems on my Mazda b2300 [1994]?

I drove my truck to work today and everything was fine. And then after work I go out to it, put in key, turn, and nothing. Just a click noise. It doesn't try to turn over or anything. Just this click noise. It clicks twice (when i push the key forward and then when i turn it back). We tried to jump the battery just in case that was the problem, but to no avail. Any idea? I am fairly sure it is a problem with the starter, but I have no car knowledge and don't know where to go from there or how to diagnose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!


You are probably correct that it is the starter that has failed. But let's check a couple of things first.

If you are willing to get a little messy, wear a pair of goggles and some gloves. Remove your negative battery cable. Inspect it for corrosion. With a small wire brush, one that is about the size of a tooth brush thoroughly clean the negative battery post and the cable end. Leave it un hooked. Then remove the positive battery post and do the same thing. Then reconnect the positive cable to its post and make sure it is a good tight fit. Then reconnect the negative post.

Try to start the truck. I have seen a lot of bad connections cause a no start. But if it still won't start and you don't mind getting a little dirty, grab a small hammer and give the starter a couple of raps, but not too hard. Try to start the truck again. If it starts, head home or head to where ever you plan to fix it. Then don't shut it off until you get there.

If it still didn't start, take your battery out and have it load tested to see if you have a good battery. Just because it has 12 available volts doesn't mean it will start the truck. A load test will tell you if it is good. If it is a good battery then you can be sure it is a starter.

Now there are quicker ways to pinpoint a starter. But you said you don't know a whole lot about cars so I am assuming you don't have a starter draw tester or a digital volt ohm meter. The things I told you to do are what anyone with basic hand tools could do. Except for the battery load test. But most parts houses will be happy to load test your battery for you.
