In general a car is getting tired once it ticks over to 300,000k's.....bearings begin to fail, and multiple systems within the engine bay (steering, cooling, electrical, ect) can begin to cause issues.

If you aren't mechanically minded steer clear and buy something around 120,000 but watch out with buying a car at 90,000 as the 100,000 service can be $$$$$

I have a new car (Mazda tribute 2008) with 585 miles on it, and I am about to go on a road trip?

I am only driving from San Jose ca. to Aneheim which is about 350 miles, so round trip that is 700 miles. Should I change the oil before I leave? Or just do it when I get back? I heard you should change the oil at 1k miles on a new car, because of it sitting on the lot and what not. What do you think?

No, in most cases, new suv that arrived directly from the manufactory to the dealership have already been calibrated to near profection. And oil change isn't necessary until 3,000-4,000 miles.(please check the last few pages in your car manual.)
However, I would recommend to check the motor oil level, the transmission oil level(if you know nothing about cars, have a professional service it for you. Or just make sure the oil level is in-between the two given "lines" at the bottom of the "dip-stick".) and tire pressure.(I do not know the psi level for a SUV, check you car manual.) You might also want to include an emergency kit for your suv, just the essential will be enough.

Anyone put a car bra on a Mazda Tribute?

I want to know if you used Mazda brand accessory or if you use LeBra? Can the Mazda get wet, or must it be removed when it is? I'd prefer the Colgan Custom, but they don't make my model and year. Any opinions would help me greatly! Thank you!

Yeah, I got's da answers to da questions. I've done quite a bit of stuff on my 2006 Mazda 3. The dealership was quite expensive and lebra and jcwhitney, pep boys etc didn't have one for my car.

their prices are really cheap, and they stand by their mistakes. (they sent me the wrong cargo tray and when I told them(you can email or call them) they sent the correct one, no hassles

BUT not with the same results. they shipped me the wrong part(their mistake)

first-they wanted me to pay shipping back
next(after I raised Cain) they said I could send it back and they would re-imburse me (4 to 8 weeks)
2.5 hours of hassle(wrong email address to email receipts to etc.) I turned it over to my bank(if it goes over 30 days your ability to contest is lost)

good parts/good prices(well, no one else had the parts), but make damn sure they ship the right parts.
