Fit, Yes. Is it designed to go there, No. The LATCH System is set-up on both of the side seats only. I have had clients who have braced down the baby seat without using the latch system, in the middle. The Driver's side is annoying, because you can't see it from the drivers seat. The Passanger side is bad, because then you have limited access to the 3rd row.

Hello, "DeadlyTa" is right, the Hybrid version of the GL is a long way off, although will appear around 2010. But do keep this in mind, even if you do buy a hybrid version of the GL, it will not be as fuel efficient as you think it may be. Honestly, hybrids are best when stuck in traffic, because the Gas/Diesel engine will be shut off temporarily. My suggestion is, go for the cheapest Mercedes GL, and it will serve your family very well. The highest end of the GL has more features, but it consumes much more fuel. As a side note, the GL is named "car of the year" by MotorTrend- magazine. Take a test drive of the car first, and find out what your options are. Take your time, and good luck. :P

If a Mercedes-Benz ML350 has 5-star safety/4-star rollover ratings, then would that be similar to a GL-450?
I was just wondering if these two cars with similar designs would share similar safety ratings...
Also, is it true that many Mercedes have brakes that feel "spongy?"
Yes the brakes are a little spongy but just because the two cars have similar design does not mean that they will have similar crash test ratings. The GL would probably be safer just because of the fact that it is bigger than the ML.
