Why do my Toyota car brakes work sometimes and shake my car other times.?

I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. For the last five weekends, I've done highway driving over several Continental Divide mountain passes. When I am going 60 mph and have to brake on a downhill highway, my car shakes violently. When I am back on the front range, my car brakes perfectly fine.

A man who owned two Toyotas said that the same thing happened to him and he had to have his warped rotors sanded. At least that's what I think he said. He said that the mechanic just put on new brake pads and then he had to go back for a second visit when that didn't work.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? I want to avoid several visits to the mechanic and get it corrected the first time.

It sounds like the rotors (disk) are out of balance they must be turn down (like you said sanded) and put new pads that will fix it. Good luck!

Which car is the best choice living in country side Oregon, Toyota land curiser, sequoia,or sienna?

I am moving to a samll place in Oregon soon. I'd like to buy a roomy car for the family. It is hard for me to make decison whether i should buy a van or suv for living in such coutry side? The candidates are toyota land cruiser(too expensive), sequoia(enough room for 7 or 8 passengers?), and sienna. I am quite satisfied with siema bcz the roomy interior. But I worried about the off road/country road whether Sienna can handle. pls. feel free to provide your comments.

go for the sequoia. i am currently in the middle east where the toyota land cruiser is by far the most owned vehicle here, let alone suv. its great if you really need off road ability, but you will sacrifice lots of space for it. when we were buying a car, we looked at it and decided not since we have 6 people in our family and there was no way we would all fit. it can take dunes well and drive off road if you are really going to push the offroad limits. i have a friend who does that and the only better car would probably be a porsche cayenne. but if you need a car just to travel on a dirt road or path or snow, the sequoia is the choice if you don't want to risk it but the sienna should do fine on a dirt path. we owned a chrysler town and country in the states and it did fine on dirt paths. the snow however...
