Leather and Fabric car seats care

carseatsWhen it comes to select the seat for the car, leather seats are the No.1 choice. It is stout and also do not need maintenance now and then. However, after few years, the leather car seats also can become soiled.

For the habitually cleaning of a leather seats from dirt, dust and stains, you can make application leather cleaner. After cleaning is done, apply a leather protectant which is formulated for the pigmented or top-layered grain leather.

The work of the protectants is to prevent the stains so that the upholstery becomes much easier for cleaning in the prospective.

Always choose the protectant which has conditioners in it to keep the leather graceful.

Use the upholstery cleaners on the soiled seats. You can use the same upholstery cleaners that you may be using at well-versed in could also be used as the upholstery for your car.

However, use the cleaner sparingly in set-up to avoid any saturation on the fabric. You must wipe out any suds by using a clean cloth.

Regularly, scrub on the fibers gently on the velour seats to keep the surface intact and to avoid matting of the fabric.

If the car seats are made up of a heart, you must spray the fabric protectant on the seats as well as to the rug. Fabric protectant like Scotchgard is advantageous as it resists any stains or dirt, and makes it in actuality easier to clean.

For precautionary measures, you must sterile the fabrics before you use any of these types of products. Also you must test these products first on any private place to be very sure that these treatments are not going to impair the fabric.

Which car should we get, the Lexus RX or the Volkswagen Touareg 2?

We are looking for a nice SUV for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids). Our choices are the Lexus RX350, RX400h (hybrid), or the Volkswagen Touareg 2. The Lexus is very different, as it has a more "cushy" ride, while the VW is German-engineered. We want a good ride (we just had the Volvo XC90 and HATED IT) and nice features. Also, we go on family ski trips to Vermont several times in the winter, so we need decent cargo space. The VW has more features it seems, like 4-Zone climate-control with heated seats for the kids (especially for ski trips), a Rest button (where it keeps the car warm up to 30 minutes after the car was turned off), Keyless Access, and more. But the Lexus is more luxurious, with really soft leather seats, a lot of wood paneling, and chrome door handles. Again, the Lexus seems small as far as cargo space. Which should we get?

I think the RX would do pretty well in the snow. My friend has the older version of it and he got to and from Lake Tahoe without any problems. What i like about the RX is that its comfortable and its reliable (reliability is very important to me especially on long trips) and the interior is pretty nice. The Touraeg is nice too and it does a little better off road, but I dont think its as reliable as the RX and i've heard that the RX 350 gets better gas mileage than the Touraeg (the Touraeg is a heavy vehicle, so the engine needs to use more gas to move its frame) I've seen the trunk space of both vehicles and to me, its about the same. The backseat of the RX is a 40-20-40 split folding bench while the Touraeg is only 40-60 (i'm guessing you can fold the middle seat down for more space and the kids still can sit in the bigger seats) Both vehicles cost about the same (The touraeg can be more expensive if you want the package with the brighter xenon headlights, the package with 4 zone climate control and the navi package (the price i got was 2,900 + 3,400 +3,350) but on the RX, the lights, navi and other stuff is just rolled up into 1 package that costs about 6,206...both vehicles start at about 39K)

If these 2 were your only option, i would recommed the RX because I think it can get you guys to the ski resorts and back without any problems and even the non-hybrid is more fuel efficient. Its more reliable and the ride is more comfortable (a good ride can lead to a happy "on the way there" and having a vehicle with great reliablity ratings is always good) If you are open to other recommendations, then I would recommend checking out the 07 Acura MDX. It costs about the same as these 2 and its capable in the snow (Car and Driver Magazine tested it out and says its a very good SUV: http://www.acura.com/content/MDX/Learn/AwardsReviews/Reviews/MDX_eprint.pdf ) and I would also recommend checking out the Audi Q7 3.6 (base) the MDX and Q7 both have a split folding 3rd row which can be used for more trunk space.

for the entire Car and Driver comparasion:
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/12669/eight-tickets-to-paradise-we-compare-eight-50000-luxury-suvs.html

oh and the RX is supposed to have 38.3 cu. ft of cargo space (thats with the seats up) compared to the Touraeg's 31 cu ft (these are from the car makers websites) and i've heard that VWs tend to have more problems than Lexus

What would be the reason that airbags on Volkswagen Touareg 2.5 TDI won't open?

If the car travel 180km/h and hit head on into anything, what could cause the airbags to fail to open? This accident has occured and I am extremly surprised that all 6 airbags have failed to open and a young man lost his life.
The car hit head on, with more damage to the passenger side, into a back of a lorry and then span and hit with the side of the car into a road barrier. The driver and back seat passenger walked away with injuries, the front seat passenger died on the spot.

If that really happened, then it is an incident that should be investigated thoroughly by the road accidents people and VW. It may be due to bad design or faulty equipment fitted, or poor maintenance (including tampering). But if it is VW's fault then it could happen to another Touareg or another VW car and VW should look into it. There are all kinds of implications.

looking for a great family car with exceptional fuel economy?

My wife and I are once again searching for another vehicle, I drive an S4 and she has an C class Benz, both of which don't really cater to our needs as a family (2 kids).
We're looking for either an SUV or Station Wagon that we can comfortably go on a long trip in, that means GPS navigation, very roomy, entertainment in the backseat to keep the kid's quiet, and a very spacious trunk.
Preferably with good fuel economy too, I know it's hard to find these days, but I don't want to be dealing with 12 MPG.

Our budget is $50,000.

Some cars that interest us are
- Audi A6 Avant
- Porsche Cayenne
- Volkswagen Touareg
- BMW X5
- Acura MDX

any suggestion?
Thanks

Hi.......seems like you prefer foreign cars, and expensive ones too. The VW touareg is a great car, but even with the small 8, i dont think gas mileage would be good. The Porsche is cute, but kinda small. You may want to consider a mini van, i like the Toyota version myself, the Sienna. Good on gas and quite roomy too. A well equipped one is low 30's i think, and the reliability and resale is above average. SUV's dont generally get good mpg, their just too big or boxy, or even heavy. I have a Nissan Pathfinder now, great truck, love the 4wd option, but its heavy, and with the 6 cylinder, automatic, it only gets about 17 mpg, and thats a small SUV by comparison to some of today's vehicles. I know the minivan gives off the "soccer mom" image, but the Sienna will grow on you. And after a few years of comfortable driving, with lots of room for the kids and cargo, and decent gas mpg.........your wallet will be pleased..........Good Luck!!
